On December 1st & December 8th, 2016, Arc Learning Academy hosted 2 different career panels. It was a great opportunity for our ALA students to hear from professionals in our community about their career path and current professions. We heard from hair stylists, Dj’s, business owners, educators and more. The students asked some great questions and were motivated and excited to hear about what their future could hold.

This year, once again the students and staff of Arc Learning Academy went above and beyond to raise money for the Bellefaire Touch a Child's Heart gift giving program. The students and staff donated money which enabled them to participate in a pizza party and basketball tournament. The big winner of the basketball tournament was 3 time champ Mr. Brent Roach who is undefeated. The runner up was student Jay Johnson. Our biggest student giver this year was Kelsey Jackson. $350 was raised by students and staff which enabled us to buy 14 children who are in foster care and other programs at Bellefaire a gift for the holidays! Thanks for your generosity ALA and making a child smile for this holiday season!

The Brush High chapter of the National Honor Society kicks off the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive on Thurs, 11/10. NHS will be working hard to secure food and monetary donations, to help support 10-12 families in the district by providing food for the holiday season. The drive will run through Fri, 11/18. If you would like to support this endeavor, please send non-perishable food items (cans, boxes, jars) and/or monetary donations to Brush with students or drop them off in the main office. All donations will be greatly appreciated. (We ask that food items be in good condition and not past their expiration date.) At the start of Thanksgiving week, NHS officers will deliver the donations to the selected families. We hope that this small gesture will make the holidays a little brighter for those families.

Creating a warm and inviting school climate where youth are actively engaged, have school spirit, and want to learn is one of the goals at Arc Learning Academy. Under the leadership of Dr. Larraine Fuller and the excellent staff at ALA, the kick-off to the school year was a new experience for the students. Students were welcomed at a school-wide assembly where they were able to engage with new staff and students in an inviting atmosphere. Icebreakers and energizers encouraqed the students to look within themselves and start to identify their unique talents and strengths. Students and staff were able to recognize that in order to have a successful year, each person needs to be open to trying new things and actively participating in ALA. The theme #ChangeTheGame was introduced to the students and staff and the message focused on changing mindsets, attitudes, and beliefs about education and community.

South Euclid Lyndhurst Families - Due to your ability, via Parent Access, to view your son or daughters updated grades at any time during the school year, the decision has been made to no longer mail home or electronically provide an interim report. Since families are now able to view in “real time” the daily performance of your child in all their classes, the interim report has become redundant and unnecessary. To remain informed of your child’s progress, we strongly suggest you check Parent Access on a daily basis to keep up to date with all assignments and grades. The school will continue to provide report cards, viewable online, for all four grading periods. If you need help registering for Parent Access, please contact your son or daughter’s school building for assistance.
