On Patriot Day, the preschoolers at Rowland Elementary School participated in many activities to help them learn about the role of firefighters in the community.
While Patriot Day is a difficult concept for children under the age of five to understand, the preschool teachers wanted to do something. They decided to talk about firefighters and how they help people. The preschoolers played matching games about things at a fire station on the SMART board and discussed the wonderful things the fire department does for our community during circle time. As a culminating activity, the students each colored a fire truck and talked about the parts and colors of the truck. These pieces of artwork were then sent to the South Euclid Fire Department for the firefighters. The firefighters were very appreciative of the artwork honoring them for their service on Patriot Day.
