On September 25, 2019, the Brush High School National Honor Society inducted 21 new members.  Members were selected based on their achievements in the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  To be eligible to apply, students must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.50.  In addition, they must demonstrate how they have acted as leaders since starting high school and provide evidence that they have completed a required number of service hours.

This year’s induction ceremony included a guest speaker, Ms.Sally Martin, Housing Director for South Euclid and co-founder of The SEL Experience Project blog (https://selexperienceproject.com/).  Ms. Martin spoke to the new inductees with passion as she challenged them to “be the change” and work to change a pattern of fear and separation in our society.  She closed her remarks by telling the inductees to, “Never be afraid to speak the truth to power.  Keep showing up and speak your truth.”  The inductees and audience were left inspired by Ms. Martin’s words.

This year’s inductees include: Kaelum Adams (11th), Lillie Alsheikhtaha (11th), Aiyana Buckner (12th), Jessyka Camandillo (11th), Dylan Dicenzi (12th), Nathan Eckman (11th), Gianni Fitch (11th), Raya Fitch (12th), Arthur Franklin (11th), Hali Hocker (12th), Niah Johnson (11th), Hailee Jones (12th), Alexia Kumar (11th), Isabelle Lashley (11th), Sean Pierce (11th), Jaslyn Rozier (11th), Gwyneth Seddon (11th), Darrien Smith (12th), Devin Suttles (12th), Carla Wagner (11th), and Alyssa Wiegand (12th).  The Brush Chapter of The National Honor Society also welcomed Keenan Barnes to the organization; Keenan was a member of NHS at his former school.  The inductees join previously inducted members:  Nickolas Anderson, Sloane Boukobza, Suyee Chen, Amber See,  Victoria Semler, Noah Turoff, and Shalea Williams.  Mrs. Jill Strainic and Mrs. Stacey Bram serve as co-advisors to the National Honor Society.
