5th Grade STEM Students Study Sound Waves

5th grade STEM students at Greenview Middle School recently learned about the properties of sound and vibration through a series of simulations performed in class. First, students learned how sound waves are capable of traveling through the different states of matter, specifically, solids, liquids and gases.  The second phase of the lab utilized project-based learning, as students tested and recorded how sound traveled through the different states of matter. This was accomplished through simulations organized and facilitated by STEM teacher Erin Macsurak.  Students greatly enjoyed the hands-on learning component of the simulations and the opportunity to observe the application of classroom concepts in a real-life setting.  Stay tuned for future updates on exciting learning opportunities at Greenview Campus.
