Track Replacement in Progress at Korb Field

Efforts are underway to replace the athletic track at Korb Field with a brand new, rubberized surface. Crews began removing the existing rubber track on Wednesday, June 14th and will grind and repave with new a blacktop foundation during the week of June 18th.  Once the repaved blacktop surface has been given a few weeks to set, a new rubber track will be installed and painted in July 2018.  The track replacement at Korb Field was deemed a top priority by the SEL Schools as the existing track was last resurfaced in 2000 and had begun to delaminate, causing holes to develop in the track surface.  Because of the deteriorating condition of the track and in the interest of student safety, the District chose not to host a home track meet during the 2017-2018 school year.  The new athletic track is expected to be finished and ready for student use in July 2018.
