The SEL Pre-School program was recently awarded a 5-Star Rating, the highest rating available, by Ohio’s Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) program. The noteworthy distinction demonstrates the high quality of education provided by the district’s Pre-School program and places it within a select group of statewide early learning programs. The SUTQ program is overseen by a cross-agency team from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), and evaluates the performance of early learning programs across four categories, including learning and development, administrative and leadership practices, family and community partnerships, and staff qualifications and professional development. 

The Pre-School Program serves children ages 3-5 years and provides high-quality educational programming four days per week. Each school day includes two separate sessions running 2.5 hours in length. For students with more intense special needs, one 5-hour session is provided five days per week. Students are instructed by highly-qualified teachers possessing either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, while all support staff receive continuous professional development. Classroom instruction utilizes play-based and exploratory activities to promote learning in four domains, including physical well-being and motor development, math, language and literacy, and social foundations.
