Adrian Elementary Takes on Bucket-Filling Challenge

Adrian Bucket Filling Assembly

Students at Adrian Elementary School participated in a fun and informative assembly to kick-off the school-wide Bucket Filling program for the 2018-19 school year on Thursday, November 1, 2018.  The innovative program seeks to encourage students to be ‘bucket fillers’ by taking positive actions towards fellow peers such as words of encouragement, appreciation, kindness and respect.  Students who are “caught doing the right thing” will receive a ticket to fill their individual “bucket” and become eligible to be recognized as the Bucket Filler of the Week and receive other great prizes.  Teachers can also grant students a Bucket Filling Referral to receive a fun reward from Principal Ken Lasky.  To help generate excitement for the Bucket Filling Program, School Counselor Lisa Artino, teacher Sylvia Marshall and Principal Ken Lasky kicked-off the assembly by wearing creative costumes and delivering high-fives to students and staff around the packed gym.  Principal Lasky then read aloud from the children’s book, How Full is Your Bucket? For Kids, which tells the story of a young boy who learns about “bucket filling” through everyday life experiences.  Students then watched a video featuring their fellow peers demonstrating examples of “bucket filling” actions.  Several Adrian teachers and staff members were also recognized for demonstrating positive actions and support on behalf of students.  At the conclusion of the assembly, Adrian students and staff left energized with a commitment to be a “bucket filler” and demonstrate ‘Arc Pride’ every day!
