Memorial Car Wash Phenomenal Success!

Nearly one-hundred students participated in an after-school car wash fundraiser hosted by Memorial Student Council in the school parking lot on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.  The purpose of the fundraiser was to raise money for the October Intervention and Enrichment period door contest.  A strong turnout of eighty-three cars from the SEL community helped to shatter the original fundraising target of $150, with the car wash raising approximately $684 in donations!  As a result, the students raised enough money to fund four planned events during the 2018-19 school year.  Principal Kaple was so impressed by the students’ accomplishment that he personally congratulated them during morning announcements on Wednesday, September 26th.  Members of the SEL community who attended the event were impressed as well, as the school office received several phone calls and emails from parents, staff members, safety forces from the South Euclid and Lyndhurst Police Departments, and neighborhood residents sharing how impressed they were with the students’ polite and helpful conduct.  The overwhelming success of the car wash fundraiser would not have been possible without the help of Memorial parents and guardians spreading the word about the event on social media and donating supplies including soap, sponges, towels and buckets. Congratulations to the Memorial Junior High Student Council on their successful fundraiser and for proudly representing the SEL Schools!
