For the second consecutive year, Charles F. Brush High School will be host to the Black History Living Legends High School Chess Tournament on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, beginning at 3:05 p.m. in Welser Gymnasium. This tournament, which earned high praise during its inaugural event last year, invites high school chess players from throughout Greater Cleveland, including from Cleveland Heights-University Heights, Shaw, Glenville, Ginn Academy, John Hay, Warrensville Heights and Solon High School to face-off in friendly interscholastic competition. As very special guests to this Chess Tournament, 15 notable African American women from Northeast Ohio will be recognized before all participants as a way to commemorate the significance of Black History Month. Please plan to support our very own, as well as our visiting student chess players, along with the 15 African American women honorees who will add a heightened level of notoriety and prestige to this annual high school chess tournament.
