SEL Board of Education Elects New President and Vice President

The South Euclid Lyndhurst Board of Education held its organizational meeting on Tuesday night, electing a new President and Vice President, while welcoming new Board Member, Ori Akrish, to the SEL Board of Education.  Congratulations to newly elected Board President, Lisa Marko, and newly elected Board Vice President, Cassandra Jones. 

Newly elected Board President Lisa Marko is currently serving her second term on the Board of Education and was most recently the Board Vice President for the 2013 calendar year.  She has been a resident of Lyndhurst since 1994 with her husband Joe and their four children.  Joseph Jr. (Brush '06) is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Robert (Brush '08) is a graduate at Case Western Reserve University, Karalyn is a recent graduate from Brush High School from the Class of 2012, and Cody is a Senior at Brush High School.

Mrs. Marko is the Executive Assistant to the Controller at WOIO/WUAB Channel 19 in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in Willoughby, Ohio, where she graduated from Willoughby South High School and attended Lakeland Community College.  Mrs. Marko has been involved in the schools for the past 18 years, and has held various PTA positions with the organization including President, 1st VP, 2nd VP, Treasurer, and various committee positions. She has also Co-Chaired the “Brown and Gold Benefit” a district fundraiser, for many years, and has been involved on the Lyndhurst Home Days Committee.

Newly elected Board Vice President Cassandra Jones is currently serving her second term on the Board of Education and was most recently the Board President for the 2013 calendar year.  She has been a South Euclid resident for eight years with her husband James and three sons. Jamel is a 5th grader attending Greenview Upper Elementary, Bryan is an 8th grader attending Memorial Junior High, and Shiloh is a 12th grader attending Brush High School.  

As a very involved parent for the past eight years, she is currently a member of, or has previously been a member of PTA Council, Sunview PTA, Southlyn PTA, Rowland PTA, & Greenview's PTA.  While currently completing her Political Science Degree at Cleveland State University she possesses an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies and aims to attend Law School as well. She works as a Bailiff in Cleveland Heights Municipal Court.
