Arcs Football Team Loses to Kenston On Last Second Field Goal, 23-22

The Brush Arcs lost a heart breaker this afternoon to the Kenston Bombers, 23-22 on a last second, 34 yard field goal.  The Arcs were leading 22-15 before a severe thunderstorm Thursday night delayed the game with 9:59 remaining in the fourth quarter.  The Arcs (2-1) next face the Mayfield Wildcats in Mayfield on Friday, September 20th and their next home game is on Friday, September 27th against Mentor.

The Arcs were up 22-18 with less than two minutes remaining and with the ball on their own 6 yard line.  However, the drive resulted in a safety with 35 seconds left, making the score 22-20.  On the ensuing kickoff, the Bombers returned the ball to the Arcs 41 yard line and then were aided by a 15 yard penalty by the Arcs.  After the Bombers converted one more first down, Kenston scored a field goal as the time expired to win the Spielman Gridiron Classic, 23-22.  The Spielman Gridiron Classic continues next week during the boys soccer game vs. Valley Forge on September 17th, the girls soccer game against Valley Forge on September 18th and the volleyball game against Parma on September 19th, as the games support breast cancer research.

The Arcs Varsity Football team next faces Mayfield on Friday, September 20th.  The game will be the 93rd matchup between the Arcs and arch rival Wildcats.  Overall, Arcs lead the lifetime series against the Wildcats with a 48-42-2 record.
