Brush High School Boys Soccer Team Compiles 5-4-1 Record at Mid-Season

The Brush Arcs Boys Varsity Soccer team, led by second-year Head Coach and Brush High School math teacher Michael Dimatteo, has compiled a 5-4-1 record so far this season, with seven games remaining to play. Led by team captains Conor Heisler and Brendan Burkholder, the team also has a 1-1 record in the Northeast Ohio Conference with three Conference games remaining.

Junior Matt Ely leads the team in scoring with seven goals so far this season. The team suffered a tough conference loss on September 17 against Valley Forge in the annual “pink” game supporting breast cancer research when the Arcs failed to block an indirect free kick resulting from a disputed illegal pass back call. A frustrated Coach Dimatteo said he had “only seen this game scenario two times ever” in his playing and coaching career.

Upcoming varsity away contests include Tuesday, September 24th against Parma and Saturday, September 28th against rival Mayfield. The next and final conference home game of the season will also be Senior Night set for Tuesday, October 8th against Garfield Heights at 7 pm at Korb Field. Come out and support the second half of the boys varsity soccer season!
