Brush Arcs Remain Undefeated in Conference Play: Defeat Normandy on Homecoming Weekend, 35-0

After a scoreless first quarter, the Brush Arcs Varsity Football Team scored 35 unanswered points to defeat the Normandy Invaders, 35-0.  Senior Quarterback Stephen Shorts sparked the Arcs in the second quarter, as he scored on a 17 yard run while also completing a 33 yard touchdown to Alfonso Onunwor to make the score 14-0 at half.  The Arcs then scored 21 more points in the second half, featuring a four yard touchdown run by Darryl McCluney, a 51 yard run by Jermaine Drake and a second touchdown pass from Stephen Shorts to Alfonso Onunwor. 

The Arcs defense was strong once again, and shut out its opponent for the third time this season.  The Arcs moves to 5-3 for the season and 3-0 in conference play.  The team will look to win its fourth straight game when it hits the road to take on Cuyahoga Falls next Friday, October 25th. continuing its quest for a playoff berth and three-peat of a conference championship. 

The game was part of the Homecoming Weekend festivities that began on Thursday with the announcement of the Homecoming Court.  Congratulations to Homecoming King, Brandon McGhee, and Homecoming Queen, Bianca Fields.  In addition, the other members of the court were:

First Members of the Court: Lauren Nicole Scott and Austin Brizee
Second Members of the Court: Natasha Zeigler and Shiloh Turner, Jr.
Third Members of the Court: Morgan Mackay and J.J. Frederico
Fourth Members of the Court: Megan Lacey and Jonathan Loya 

The Homecoming Parade that preceded the game on Friday featured the Brush Marching Band, the Homecoming Court in convertibles which were graciously provided by the Beachwood Infiniti Dealership on Mayfield Road, and the Top 25 who rode in the Euclid Beach rocket car.  A special thanks to Mr. Laplanche and Mrs. Malone for all of their hard work in organizing the entire weekend. 

The night wrapped up at the official post game party headquarters of the Arcs, Buffalo Wild Wings.  The party featured a special performance by the Arcs cheerleaders, an introduction of the Top 25, a post game analysis by Brush Head Coach, Josh Wells, and several Brush Arcs giveaways throughout the evening. 

The Homecoming Weekend finishes Saturday night with the dance, which has a theme of "A Night in Paris."
