South Euclid Lyndhurst Music Instructor Receives Distinguished Honor

Veteran South Euclid-Lyndhurst music instructor, Mr. Barry Hartz, was recently honored with a very prestigious honor, The Outstanding Educator Award from the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) for 2012.

Mr. Hartz, who has instructed music classes for grades 5 through 12, has been a teacher in the SE-L Schools for more than twenty-five years. This honor comes in light of being nominated by individuals within the SE-L Schools, namely students and peers in the profession. Mrs. Andrea Walker, principal at Memorial Junior High School, describes Mr. Hartz as an “outstanding teacher and colleague, who goes above and beyond the instruction of his students.”

The OMEA recognizes a series of teachers every year for their specific contribution to student learning in the fields of music and the arts. Only a select few individuals receive such recognition. Mr. Hartz was recently notified of his award the week prior to Holiday Break.  Of Mr. Hartz, students enjoy his personality and his patience, his sense of humor and also his willingness to ensure that a student has learned a specific piece of music.

Congratulations to SE-L music teacher, Mr. Barry Hartz, on this honor!
