Rowland Second Graders Raise Over $1,000 for St. Jude’s Math-a-Thon

Fifteen Rowland second graders recently participated in a Math-a-Thon to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, one of the world’s premier cancer centers. Together with Rowland’s Math Specialist, Marcia Armbruster, a total of $1,207.53 was raised in support of this worthy cause!

The Math-a-Thon
allows students to practice essential math skills while raising funds for children battling cancer.  Participants solve math problems in a printed or online Funbook, while family and friends serve as their financial sponsors.  All donations are then sent to St. Jude’s, where no child is ever turned away because of a family’s inability to pay.

Rowland’s Math-a-Thon participants raising $100 or more were Morgan Harris, Stephanie Miller and Nathan Rubenstein.  Other participants raising money toward the overall school total included Amaiya Clayton, Alexa Walter, Kayla Minter, Lizzie Schuster, Emily Loya, Dillon Lewis, Leela Reeves, Aaron Lodgson, Gabriella DiVechio, Mecca East, Nia Brown and Chase Chervenka.
