8th Graders Visit Washington DC

The Memorial Junior High 8th graders proudly represented the South Euclid Lyndhurst School District by attending their annual Washington DC school trip. The students arrived at Gettysburg for a guided tour of the battlefields.

On day two, the students visited the Arlington National Cemetery to view the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, Changing of the Guard, and the John F. Kennedy Memorial. The students visited the Capitol Building and the Holocaust Museum for Daniel’s Story. They also visited Martin Luther King Jr, FDR, and the Jefferson Memorials. Finally, they ended their day with photo opportunities at the White House followed by the WWII, Lincoln, Korean, and Vietnam Memorials. Upon returning on day three, the students stopped in Shanksville, PA to view the Flight 93 Memorial tribute to 9/11.

The students demonstrated exemplary behavior and received a true Washington DC experience aligned to the 8th grade social studies curriculum. They were chaperoned by Mrs. Cegelka, Mr. Robinson, Ms. Canowitiz, Ms. Morgan, Mrs. Cicero, Mr. Bernetich, Mr. Botella, Mr. Bell, and our district school nurse Mrs. Tibash.
