Memorial Students Participate in First Quarter PBIS Event

All Memorial Junior High students had the opportunity to participate in the First Quarter PBIS Event during the afternoon on Friday, October 2nd. PBIS, which stands for Positive Behavior Intervention System, is offered once each grading quarter, and is designed to model and teach positive classroom behavior while providing students rewards for meeting specific goals. Participation was opened up to all students in order to provide them an opportunity to experience a PBIS event, as well as to motivate them to meet the criteria to participate in future PBIS activities.

The First Quarter PBIS event featured a wide variety of fun and engaging activities, including karaoke, a cheerleading clinic in the school cafeteria and basketball in the new gym. Students also had the opportunity to watch the movie Angels in the Outfield in the school library. Many students took advantage of the cool, yet sunny autumn weather by participating in various outdoor games, including a tug-of-war contest with teachers, flag football and soccer. Stay tuned for updates on future PBIS activities at Memorial Junior High School!
