Riverside
 at Brush

What: Western Reserve Conference game
When: 7 p.m., Oct. 7
Where: Korb Field
Records: Brush 2-4 (2-1 WRC), Riverside 3-3 (1-2 WRC)
Last week: Riverside lost to Madison, 21-13, Brush lost to Mayfield, 45-41

For the record: Hard times just seem to haunt these two teams. Riverside has lost two in a row by a total of 10 points, while Brush has lost games by four, five and four points. ... Similarly, to Madison being in position to be a WRC spoiler, Riverside can determine whether Brush remains in the WRC race. ... Brush is stinging from a last-second touchdown by Mayfield last week that video evidence shows a Mayfield runner was out of bounds before crossing the goal line. But Coach Jeff Fink has gone on record as saying his team needed to make more plays earlier in the game. ... The Arcs offense hung 600-plus yards on Mayfield last week. Running back Christian Wright ran for 377 and went over the 1,000-yard mark. QB Godwin Joe has thrown for 737 and run for 393 despite not starting until Week 3. Riverside’s defense is going to have a serious task on its hands. ... The Beavers’ offense has struggled the past two weeks getting as much productivity out of Austin Van Pelt and Josh Carafa as they did the first four weeks. When those two seniors are clicking, getting help from QB Nate Sleek and shifty youngster Taye Alexander, the Beavers can be awfully difficult to defense. ... The key here is for Riverside to slow down what is bound to be an angry, motivated group of Arcs. Which team can get over the hump to win a close game?
