Brush Principal Karl Williamson took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in front of cheering students and teachers during the pep assembly at Korb Field on Friday, August 29th. The challenge was a fitting conclusion to a spirited and energetic pep assembly, and involved a group of students pouring a bucket of ice cold water onto Principal Williamson. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has become a social media phenomenon over the past month, raising awareness and generating over $100 million for ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease research.
The outdoor event was one of the first pep assemblies to be held at Brush HS in recent memory, and was received enthusiastically by the students and staff. The Brush HS Marching Band kicked off the pep assembly with an impressive on-field performance. The varsity football coaching staff then brought excited cheers from the crowd as they introduced the entire team, specifically recognizing all senior football players. The event also included several energetic and impressive performances by the varsity cheerleading squad.
