SEL Begins Safe Routes to School Process
SEL Begins Safe Routes to School Process
The South Euclid-Lyndhurst School District is very excited to take the beginning steps in our Safe Routes to School grant application.  The Safe Routes to School program is a federally funded program for K-8 schools.

As part of the initial phase of the project, the District is sending a parent survey home to each student, grades K-8, to gather information about walking and biking to school.  These surveys are due back to school by September 5th into the school offices.  In addition, homeroom teachers are conducting tallies of student arrival and departure methods for three days during the week of August 27th.  This information is being collected as part of an engineering study that will be conducted for each building at no cost to the district.  The engineering study will observe the district's arrival and dismissal procedures, as well as identify barriers to students walking and biking to school within a mile radius of each school.

After the engineering study is completed, each city will be eligible for up to $500,000 to improve walking and biking routes, keeping our student's safety in mind as they get to and from school.
