5th Graders Design 3D Printed Wrenches

Fifth grade students at Greenview Middle School demonstrated initiative, creativity and precision-like focus during a recent project involving the design of 3D printed wrenches.  The first step involved students drawing a conceptual design of their open-end wrench, which included selecting the size and designing individualized features for the handle. Students then entered the design specifications into a 3D printer located in the school’s Makerspace area to print the final product.  Learning Resource Teacher Paul Kijinski was especially impressed with the final 3D printed wrenches, as he provided zero hands-on assistance during the design and printing process!  The 3D printed wrench project is a prime example of the STEM-based learning, collaboration and critical thinking skills promoted through the incorporation of state-of-the-art Makerspace learning technologies.  Congratulations to the 5th graders at Greenview Middle School for their impressive work!
