Fun Run and Race Day Helps Sunview Elementary Get Active for a Great Cause
sunfun

Sunview students and staff laced up their running shoes for a great cause on Wednesday, May 2nd, as part of Fun Run and Race Day.  For a donation of one-dollar, participating students and staff were organized by grade-level and given the opportunity to run a specified number of laps around a marked course on the field located behind the school.  Students in grades Kindergarten and 1st grade ran one lap, while grades 2-3 ran two laps around the field.  Participation was extremely positive as over one-hundred students took part in the race!   During the event, fellow classmates and staff members gathered in the center of the race course to cheer on each grade level, with some students holding handmade signs. At the end of each grade-level race, runners were congratulated with high-fives, followed by an “Arc-pride” filled huddle led by Ryan Dugan, Fitness and Wellness Coordinator at Brush High School and the ArcFit Wellness Complex.

Proceeds raised from the Fun Run and Race Day will be used to sponsor ten Sunview students who register online for the SELEBRATE MOMS 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk on Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 9 AM to 12 PM at Brush High School.  Registration for SEL students costs $10.  If more than ten Sunview students register for the upcoming event, a raffle will be held to select those students who will be reimbursed for the online registration fee.  Parents interested in registering their student for the SELEBRATE MOMS 5K and 1 Mile Walk can register online here.  The SEL School District welcomes people of all fitness levels to participate.  For more information about the SELEBRATE MOMS event, please visit the district website.  Special thanks to Eileen Kijinksi and Ryan Dugan for their efforts in coordinating the Sunview Fun Run and Race Day. Finally, thank-you to the Sunview students and staff for their support, and Go Arcs!
