Brush Student’s Artwork Selected for Display at The Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition
portrait

Artwork created by Brush student Alila Davis was recently selected to be displayed as part of the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition in Columbus, OH.  The program provides high school students an opportunity to showcase their talents while encouraging an appreciation for the arts and highlighting the excellent art instruction available to students throughout Ohio.  Alila’s “Self Portrait” is part of the Silver Gelatin Print/Photography category and was originally submitted as part of the recent regional competition hosted at Brush High School, which served as one of fifteen regional judging sites.  Co-Directors and Brush art instructors Hadley Conner and Sarah Curry coordinated the regional judging with the assistance of three judges and a dedicated group of student volunteers.

Of the 11,500 regional entries from the 15 regions, approximately 2,500 were selected to enter the state judging competition.  Alila’s selection is incredibly noteworthy, as her artwork was one of only of 300 works chosen by state jurors for display at the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition.  Approximately 25 of the 300 selected artworks will receive the Governor's Award of Excellence at an awards ceremony in Columbus on Sunday, April 22nd.  The Exhibition Opening will take place after the awards ceremony at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 22nd at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower, located at 30 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH, and is open to the public through May 17th from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM on weekdays only.

The SEL Schools congratulate Alila Davis on her impressive artistic achievement!
