Memorial Junior High Students Explore the Arts at the Beck Center!

Recently our Memorial Junior High gifted students attended an amazing workshop at the Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood. Students had the opportunity to explore various art forms like clay, improvisation, drawing, percussion, mime/movement, and dance.  The arts workshop fits into our gifted curriculum by developing our student’s creativity. The skills they learn because of exposure to the arts spill over into academic achievement. Students who participate regularly in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, to participate in a math and science fair, or to win an award for writing an essay or poem than children who do not participate. We have many success stories at Memorial Junior High that validate these claims. The South Euclid School system continues to offer enrichment opportunities for our students, and is committed to a quality education for all of its diverse population of learners.
