Boys Basketball

On Friday evening, the Boys Basketball team clinched their first conference title since 2012-2013 with a 63-55 win over Madison. The Arcs were led on the night by Tyler Williams who had 18 points and 22 rebounds (believed to be a school record for a game) and Andre Harris who finished with 14 points. The Arcs finished 13-1 in the WRC to clinch the title outright over Madison and South. The first two years in the WRC the Arcs are 23-5. Despite a loss on Tuesday at Gilmour, the team finished the regular season with an 18-4 record. The 18 wins is the sixth time in school history that a team has won 18 or 19 games. The current school record is 19 wins in a season. The Boys now await the winner of Glenville and Lakeside, the winner will play at Brush on March 4th at 7pm.

Girls Basketball

Girls Basketball host Chardon in a highly touted Sectional Final game tonight in Welser Gym. The winner of tonight’s game advances to the District Semifinal at Perry on Monday night. The Arcs earned the #2 seed in the Perry District after an impressive 19-3 regular season record, the second highest wins total in school history. The team also won the WRC title outright with a 13-1 record. The team has been led in scoring by Danajah Sanders (275 points) and Arielle DeBase (254 points). While Jenna Perry set the single-season school record with 52 3-pointers, she has 83 now her two-year career. The team along with Arielle DeBase were also recently featured on the High School Sports Insider show, see links below for footage.

Girls Bowling

Girls Bowling finished third on Monday at the Division I Ernst Lanes Sectional to advance to this weekend’s District Tournament in Canton. The Girls were led by Jamie Perry’s three-game series of 477 and Anna Famadico’s three-games series of 425. This marks the sixth straight year either a team or individual has advanced to the District Tournament from Brush. The second straight year the Girls advanced to the District Tournament. Last year, then junior Amanda Arth advanced to the state tournament as an individual.

Swimming

Junior Oliver Wenzler and Sophomore Julia Kiefer both advanced to the District Swimming meet at Cleveland State University last Saturday. Wenzler competed in both 100 Freestyle (51.21) and 100 Backstroke (59.24), while Kiefer competed in the 100 Butterfly (1:06.21).

Wrestling

Wrestling begins their postseason this Saturday when they travel to Willoughby South for the Sectional Tournament. Nolan Washington at the WRC Tournament led the team two weeks ago, he finished in fourth in the 126-pound weight class. He is looking to make the District tournament this season after just missing out in 2016.

Hockey

Girls Soccer

Never too early to start thinking towards 2017-2018 school year…the School Board on Tuesday approved Tim Foerg as the new Girls Soccer Head Coach. Foerg is currently a member of the Faculty at Brush in the Math Department. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous coaching experiences including serving as varsity assistant under John Scramling and as the Head Boys Soccer coach at Nordonia. He inherits a very young program with 10 starters returning from last season including three freshmen who had starting roles. Next time you see Tim congratulate him on his new coaching gig!
