Brush Students Participate in Young Scientist Foundation Summer Internship Program in NYC

Three Brush High School students had the distinct opportunity to participate in the very prestigious Young Scientist Foundation Summer Internship program in partnership between Case Western Reserve University and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Brush incoming senior Alexis Andrich and incoming juniors Julia Kiefer and Kareem King were three of the twenty students total who spent the summer performing biomedical research alongside graduate and post-doctoral students, on fighting the widespread effects of cancer and the human body. Alexis, who aspires to become a pediatrician one day, claims that ‘this opportunity will help me to gain the research experience and leadership skills needed for conducting my own research in college one day.’ Julia Kiefer has an interest in cellular biology and environmental science, participates in the Science Olympiad, the Environmental Club and leads Brush’s Envirothon team. Kareem King pursued the opportunity to be a Young Scientist Foundation member because of his keen interest in observing scientists working in laboratories and deploying their skills. The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools congratulates these students on their hard work and earning a coveted spot as part of this program, helping to demonstrate the SEL Schools’ dedication to equipping students with 21st Century Skills for their futures.
