PBIS Assembly Rewards Greenview Students for Taking Positive Actions
As part of an ongoing effort to encourage students to take positive actions, Greenview hosted its April/May PBIS Assembly on Friday, May 5th. Students who met specific classroom behavior incentives were given the opportunity to compete in a friendly dodgeball game in the gym. The assembly featured three time slots, one for each grade level, with one team representing each classroom. Teachers J.C. Commander and Kim Walden helped to organize and oversee the PBIS assembly. During each dodgeball game, students cheered enthusiastically and held up colorful, hand-made signs to support their classroom’s team. The winning team from each grade level received a trophy for their accomplishment.
PBIS, which stands for Positive Behavior Incentive System, seeks to motivate students to always “be respectful, be ready, and be responsible” by providing various incentives. One of those includes Arc Cards, which are given to every student and signed weekly by a parent. The Arc Cards are used as way to regularly communicate with parents, and as a reinforcement tool by tracking each student’s behavior.
Congratulations to all students who participated in the latest Greenview PBIS assembly on a job well done!
