A group of eight Memorial teachers had the opportunity to participate in an in-depth training session using the brand new, state-of-the-art Makerspace equipment located in the Media Center on Thursday, October 18, 2018.  The training session was provided by Ohio-based Buckeye Educational Systems which provides educational programs and products for K-12, career tech and post-secondary schools.  As part of the District’s focus on ensuring students have future-ready skills, the new Makerspace areas feature several exciting, state-of-the-art educational technologies, including a vinyl printer, laser engraver, 3-D printers and taple-top CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine.  Efforts are also underway to finish installing equipment for a recording studio and green screen classroom, which will provide students the opportunity to demonstrate learning through the creation of digital content and video productions.  The newly renovated Media Center also features a flexible learning space, complete with new furniture, tables, wheeled chairs and extra-large whiteboard to create an environment that promotes collaboration and creativity. Overall, the new Makerspace equipment and renovated Media Center will give teachers the opportunity to provide students engaging, hands-on learning experiences across all content areas.  Stay tuned for future updates on Makerspace learning at Memorial!
