On Tuesday, February 5, six members of the Brush High School National Honor Society delivered a large quantity of donated goods to the Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center of Cleveland. The NHS had been collecting goods throughout January and early February. During the course of the drive, the NHS worked cooperatively with the athletic department to provide students an opportunity to enter a boys basketball game in January for free if they brought two items to donate to the drive. In the end, large quantities of soaps, shampoos, tissue, detergent, and towels and other needs were delivered. In addition $225 in gift cards to Home Depot, Target, and Michael’s were provided to the Center.
Students that took the trip to the Center were provided a tour of the facility. In addition, students were provided a short presentation on what the Center does and the numerous services provided to community members. The students spent a large portion of the tour viewing the supervised visitation center that is unique to Cuyahoga County; the logistics of operating such a facility were explained to the students.
The National Honor Society would like to thank all the students, staff, and families that contributed toward the drive; rest assured that the cause is very worthwhile!
