2018 Fathers Walk

Students from across the District participated in the 2018 Fathers Walk sponsored by The Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative on Thursday, September 20th.  As part of the annual program, fathers and father-figures are encouraged to walk to school with their children to demonstrate the important role they play in their students’ lives.  In addition to enjoying a breakfast of donuts and other light refreshments, students and fathers listened to guest speakers, including Al Grimes from the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative.  Greenview’s celebration took place at the Notre Dame College Auditorium and included remarks by Pastor Scott Blevins from Garfield Memorial Church, as well as father and daughter Daniel and Tamia Smith.  The program closed with all participants standing and reciting the Fathers Walk Pledge, expressing their commitment to support their child’s learning and communicate the importance of doing their best in school.  Each father and father-figure in attendance then walked with their child to their classroom or the main entrance of the school building.  The SEL Schools wish to thank everyone who participated in the Fathers Walk 2018 program, and for their commitment to be a positive role model for their child.
