Lost in the Woods!

The students of SEL were set free!  Free to get lost in the woods never to return: unless they applied the strategies set forth by the Metroparks education adviser and the help of technology. Over 30 students participated in a STEM field trip that demonstrated science in motion.  The Educational Service Center of Cuyahoga County in cooperation with the South Euclid Lyndhurst gifted education department sponsored the trip to the Cleveland Metroparks Jackson Field in Solon. The students were taught how to use a compass (yes a real magnetic compass) and a GPS handheld device to find various stations in the woods. It was cooperation and teamwork on display as well as latitude and longitude coordinance.  Our destination school community continues to support learning for all of its students.  These opportunities are a must have for our gifted population and their special learning needs. The activities foster a love for learning and keeps them engaged in their education.
