Brush Alumna wins Big Ten Championship

Asya Reynolds,  a 2015 Brush Graduate won the Big Ten championship for Michigan State on Saturday, May 11, at the 2019 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Asya posted a career-best 5,520 points in the heptathlon. Reynolds entered day two of competition in third place, but opened Saturday's competition with a first-place finish in the heptathlon long jump with a best jump of 18-11 1/4 (5.77m). Carrying that momentum into the javelin, Reynolds posted a career-best throw of 121-1 (36.91m) to vault into first place. Leading by 75 points heading into the finale event, Reynolds ran the 800m in a season-best 2:22.49 to defeat Iowa's Jenny Kimbro by a 19-point margin, 5520-5501.
