Memorial and Brush Choir Students Hold Joint Rehearsal for Upcoming Performances

Choir students from Memorial Junior High School and Brush High School filled the music room space at Memorial on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017, to rehearse for several upcoming performances.  Before practicing their planned repertoire of songs, the combined group of students in grades 7-12 spent a few minutes to introduce and get to know each other better.  At the start of rehearsal, the students organized into two groups, with each building’s choir members situated across from each other.  Under the direction of Music Instructor Sara Ballou, the students’ impressive voices filled the room as they perfected the different dynamics and parts for each song.  Additional instruction and guidance was provided by Gabriella Mack, a 2010 graduate of Brush High School.  Gabriella has taken the time to visit Cleveland once per month to work with the Brush Show Choir, while residing in New York City, where she teaches voice, dance and theatre, in addition to performing as a singer in various productions.

Members of the Brush Show Choir will perform at each of the district’s elementary buildings on Friday, December 1st.   In addition, each respective building’s choir groups will deliver separate upcoming holiday concert performances.  On Thursday, December 7th, Brush High School will host a Winter Choral Concert from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Performing Arts Center.  The Memorial Winter Choral Concert will be held at the Brush PAC at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 18th. The entire SEL Schools Community is invited to attend both winter choral concert performances.
