Mark your calendars! The recently postponed Speaker Series event featuring motivational speaker Basheer Jones has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Brush High School. The postponement came as a result of school being closed due to inclement weather.

The Speaker Series is a collaborative event that has invited guests to present before an audience of parents, students and community members about relevant topics facing us all. Specifically, Basheer’s presentation is entitled “Invest in Your Child: Pay Now or Pay Later,” and will involve a discussion of how parents can speak to their children on their own level in order to better understand their needs. The encouragement of this discussion will be for parents to make an authentic investment in their children’s lives now, in order to better prepare them for the future. Eating meals together as a family, engaging in school work and simply talking with your students are all methods by which our students can benefit today, to be prepared for tomorrow.
Dessert will follow immediately after the event, and child care is also provided in the Brush East Gym for district residents ages 3-11.
