SEL Schools Participate in Fathers Walk Day to Promote Enhanced Parental Involvement

As part of a county-wide initiative to encourage the role of fathers and other male figures in the lives of their students, Rowland Elementary School and Greenview Upper Elementary School participated in the Fathers Walk program on Thursday, September 19, 2013.

At Rowland Elementary School alone, more than 100 fathers joined their students hand-in-hand, as they walked into the school building to start their respective days together.  Rowland, was also joined by a very special guest, Mr. Grimes, who is the Director of the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative (shown in above picture speaking to the Men).

The schools served refreshments and a short program was held to speak about the importance of a father figure in a child’s life. A pledge was issued to the fathers, of certain levels of involvement criteria that was read aloud by the entire group. A special thank you to the fathers and other individuals, who took time to celebrate the important role that they play in their child’s life.
