Greenview Students Join Together to Raise Funds for Cancer Society

Students from Greenview Upper Elementary School have a renewed sense of pride after successfully raising over $3,000 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients campaign. During the recent three week fundraising campaign, each classroom collected pennies and other spare change, which will be used by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help fund blood cancer research and education, as well as patient-related services. Fourth-grader Matthew Kendig and his mother, who works for LLS, proposed the idea for Greenview to participate in the program, which has generated more than $211 million in the United States and Canada since 1994. In addition to raising funds, students gained a greater awareness concerning blood cancer research and treatment through daily announcements, as well as reading personal stories from local Ohio children and teens who are blood cancer survivors.

The SEL Schools wishes to thank all of the students at Greenview Upper Elementary for participating in the Pennies for Patients campaign and helping to impact the lives of countless individuals.
