Brush Student Delivers Impressive Vocal Performance at State Competition
Brush Student Delivers Impressive Vocal Performance at State CompetitionBrush student Jonathan Loya delivered an impressive vocal performance at the National Association of Teachers of Singers, Buckeye Chapter State Audition, on Saturday, April 6th. The annual competition was held at Kent State University and featured performances by over 380 contestants, the majority being college students. Each performance was placed in one of fifteen categories, with each category featuring an honorable mention, third place, second place, and first place award. All performers who received a first place finish in their respective category earned the opportunity to perform one song at a special afternoon concert. Jonathan was awarded first place in the High School category and selected the famous ballad, Danny Boy, for his concert performance. Jonathan not only showcased his incredible vocal delivery and talent, but also displayed remarkable stage presence, as he calmly and seamlessly finished the last minute and a half of the song without piano accompaniment, the result of a missing page of sheet music. The SEL Schools congratulate Jonathan not only for his impressive first place finish, but also for his memorable performance in spite of unforeseen challenges.
