Brush Arcs Varsity Football Remains Undefeated in Conference Play with One Game Remaining: Defeats Cuyahoga Falls, 36-22

The Brush Arcs Varsity Football team is closing in on a three peat of the NOC Conference Championship and a playoff berth, as the team defeated Cuyahoga Falls, 36-22 on Friday night. Brush improves to 6-3 for the season and the team is a perfect 4-0 in the Northeast Ohio Conference, Lake Division.

The Arcs scored the first points of the game in the first quarter, as Senior quarterback, Stephen Shorts, threw a 23 yard pass to Jordan Overton to make the score 7-0. In the second quarter, Cuyahoga Falls answered with a touchdown play with no extra point to make the score 7-6. However, the Arcs quickly responded with 10 unanswered points in the second quarter to make the score 16-6 at half.

The Arcs continued their momentum into the third and early fourth quarter, as the Arcs scored 20 additional unanswered points in the second half to make the score 36-6. Cuyahoga Falls finished the game with two late scores in the fourth quarter to make the final score, 36-22.

The Arcs were led by Quarterback, Stephen Shorts, who threw three touchdown passes, including two to Alfonso Onunwor of 25 and 7 yards. Junior running back Darryl McCluney Jr. and sophomore Austin Scott each added a rushing touchdown for the Arcs.

The Arcs next face Parma at Brush’s Korb Field on Friday, November 1st in the final game of the season. With a victory, the Arcs will clinch its third consecutive NOC Conference Championship. The game also is Fan Appreciation Night, where the first 500 fans will receive a free “Feel the Power” sling bag.
