SEL Schools Informs Community of New Standards for State Report Card

The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools provided an informative and interactive forum on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, to share with the community the nuances of the new state report card and how our district has fared under the new changes to date. Held at the Performing Arts Center at Brush High School, Superintendent Linda N. Reid presented to parents, community members, students and staff on the new evaluation metrics and what the SEL Schools are doing in light of the changes. Several new initiatives are underway internally at the district to help adapt and prepare students and staff for the recent changes. Superintendent Reid was joined by Assistant Superintendent, Veronica Motley, and Director of Communications and Information Systems, Chad Welker, in explaining the new standards. The central office administrators’ presentations were supplemented by Mrs. Kathybel Ortiz and Mr. Reginald Holland, principals at Memorial Junior High and Greenview Upper Elementary respectively, who spoke to what is being done at the building levels relative to the new changes. At the conclusion of the presentation, members of the audience were given the opportunity to ask questions.

The SEL Schools is committed to fulfilling its vision to become “The Destination School Community”, and its strategic plan, by conducting public meetings such as this forum. As the district values open and honest communications, SEL Schools has created a New State Report Card Web Page to help the community better understand our ratings. On this page, community members may download a one page guide to the New State Report Card or download the presentation from Wednesday’s public forum. The district plans to continue to update this web site with additional information about the new state report card and what the SEL Schools are doing in light of the changes. Stay tuned for more information from the SEL Schools on the continued changes from the state.
