Brush Students Attend Student Leadership Retreat at John Carroll

Six members of Brush's Cultural Awareness, Race and Equality (CARE) group attended the Facing History and Ourselves Student Leadership Retreat held at John Carroll University on December 13th.  Along with 65 students from 12 other area high schools, our students participated in large and small group discussions centering around bullying and viewed the widely publicized documentary titled, Bully.  Through careful reflection, participants considered the role of not only the bully and his or her victim, but also parents, school officials and law enforcement.

Juniors Brandon McGhee and Morgan Mackay serve as student senators for Facing History and Ourselves and freshman Lindsey Mink, Brandon Parks, Parker Shapiro and Miles Wilson are delegates. Facing History and Ourselves is an international organization dedicated to engaging students of diverse backgrounds in an examination of racism, prejudice, and antisemitism in order to promote the development of a more humane and informed citizenry.
