Greenview Upper Elementary School Donates Food and Funds to Local Food Shelter

Greenview Upper Elementary School recently donated more than 1,600 lbs. of food and more than $30 in cash to Heights Emergency Food Center, as part of an annual effort to help those in need in our community. In a letter recently received by Greenview principal Reginald Holland, Heights Emergency Food Center wrote, “the hearts and families we serve are lightened when they realize that neighbors like you have compassion and truly care about them.”

The effort included the entire student body at Greenview, as well as teachers and staff members, whereby the grade-levels engaged in a friendly and spirited competition against each other to assemble as much donated, non-perishable food as possible. Running over a three-week period just prior to the holidays, this year marks the seventh year that the building has endeavored to help the shelter. A special thank you to the students and staff at Greenview, as well as National Elementary Honors Society advisors Terri Marie, Julie Post and Carleen Almasy, for their leadership of this project!
