Superintendent Reid Spends Time Reading with Sunview First Graders

Continuing a reading program that is now in its 20th year, Superintendent Linda N. Reid, was invited to the first grade class of Sunview Elementary teacher, Kathy Groudle, to read two stories to South Euclid-Lyndhurst students. According to Mrs. Groudle, the students enjoyed the Friday afternoon visit from the District Superintendent, and Mrs. Reid delighted in spending time with elementary students as well. Specifically, Mrs. Reid read two stories, Snowmen at Night and Missing Mitten Mystery, which was then followed by a brief period interaction with students.

“The students felt special that the Superintendent came to spend time with us!  After she left, one of the students commented, that ‘he really liked her because she smiled a lot," said Mrs. Groudle. “Another student said, ‘she was nice because she tried to listen to all of us at least one time.’"

Mrs. Groudle began this reading program many years ago, by inviting special people to read to her class on Friday afternoons. Over the years, the reading program has included various guests, including district officials, parents, grandparents and people from the community. Mrs. Reid intends to be a follow-up guest again at some point in the future.
