Superintendent Linda Reid and District Officials Deliver State of the Schools Address
Superintendent Linda Reid and District Officials Deliver State of the Schools AddressNearly nine months after the initiation of a deliberate strategic planning process, SEL Schools Superintendent Linda N. Reid formally delivered a State of the Schools address, based on the Strategic Plan: Destination 2018, to the Board of Education and the community. Superintendent Reid spoke about the context of the process, and how more than 300 individuals played an active role that began last September 2012. She presented the new district vision statement, mission statement, core beliefs and four district areas-of-focus. Then, each area of focus was presented by various Central Office administrators who were responsible for closely developing action plans for each goal over the last eight weeks. Those areas of focus included Teaching and Learning, Facilities, School Community Climate and Communications and Partnerships. Nearly 100 people from the community attended the State of the Schools presentation, which in the near future will be available for viewing on AVTV. It is the intent of the district to publish the Strategic Plan: Destination 2018 on the Web site once it is approved by the Board of Education.
