Brush Students Give Strong Finish at Statewide MLK Oratorical Competition
Brush Students Give Strong Finish at Statewide MLK Oratorical CompetitionBrush High School was well represented at the statewide finals for the Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest, as Senior Jaylin Cody and Junior Danyelle Dukes were participants at the final competition on Friday, April 26th in Columbus. Senior Jaylin Cody won Third Place in the Senior Division, while Junior Danyelle Dukes gave a strong performance as well. Both students earned the opportunity to compete at the statewide finals after delivering impressive presentations at the regional competition at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in March. This year marked the 14th anniversary of the annual statewide contest, which featured “Remaining Awake through a Great Revolution” as its 2013 theme. Organized by the Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission, the event features students in grades K-12, separated into four divisions by grade.

The SEL Schools wish to congratulate Jaylin and Danyelle for their impressive performances and for representing themselves and the district in an exceptional manner.
