Dear Community Member:
As we lay the foundation to positively impact student achievement in the South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools,the district has recently hired a set of high quality administrators that will be responsible for key areas of instruction and district operations. These specific administrators demonstrate the type of personal and professional achievement that I believe will help the district to fulfill its vision to become The Destination School Community.
Greg Pollock has been named the Director of Human Resources, and joins our team after 15 years in the Aurora City Schools. Mr. Pollock will be tasked with overall personnel and HR operations, and had prior served as a long-time elementary principal, whose schools had earned Excellent State Report Card Ratings, and earned School of Distinction ratings nine years in a row from the Ohio Department of Education.
Fulfilling the role of Director of Pupil Services will be Melissa Thompson, who joins the SEL Team from the Ohio Department of Education, where she served as Director of Educational Reform. Ms. Thompson's primary responsibilities there included projects that worked to close the achievement gap. She has a vast amount of experience in creating community partnerships with external agencies, and has successfully authored and co-authored many state and federal grants, thus helping the district with an important component of its strategic plan.
Jennifer Moles joins the SEL Schools as Director of Special Education. Her prior experience includes working with diverse student populations. Specifically, she has worked with teachers and administrators in implementing instructional strategies to close the achievement gap for students with disabilities. She will work closely with the Director of Pupil Services to provide wrap-around social services for students and their families. Her educational degrees include special education and curriculum; in addition, her passion about her work is evident in the day to day work with the students and families she serves.
Finally, the SEL Schools welcomes Dana Stearns as its new Director of Business Affairs. Joining our team after 22 years of experience in the Chardon Schools, Mr. Stearns has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the oversight of facilities,transportation and cafeteria operations. His objective will be strategic ways to save money, including cost containment measures. The SEL leadership will look to him for guidance on becoming more energy efficient, as his past work included management of energy programs that demonstrated substantial cost savings.
These individuals comprise the new and highly qualified faces of the central office staff, which will be dedicated to our vision, and to raising the bar of impacting academic achievement. Please join me in welcoming these new people to SEL Team!
