Brush Librarian Lisa Hubler and Language Arts teacher Sallie Fine hosted “Speed Dating with Books” in the Brush High School Library Friday, March 14th. As they moved from table to table, examining the books, the students were encouraged to look beyond outward appearances, and get to know their potential date before forming a “committed relationship.” They were allowed to continue to date the same book by carrying their selection with them, or they could “ditch” their date for a new choice at any time. Students unable to commit by the end of the activity selected from the “blind date” table. At check out, each student received a chocolate kiss. Many of the students were surprised that the school library had books that appealed to them. Others, faced with so many eligible bachelors and bachelorettes, had a hard time limiting their choices and left with two books.
