Brush Students Visit Elementary School Buildings to Celebrate The National African-American Read-In

During the morning of Tuesday, February 25th, approximately forty-seven Brush students visited each of the district's K-6 buildings to celebrate the National African-American Read-In. Each building classroom was visited by a pair of Brush students for a fifteen-minute reading session, during which the students read a book written by an African-American author to the classroom. This was followed by a brief discussion of the important themes contained in each book. In addition to Brush students, various district staff members participated in the event, including Superintendent Linda N. Reid, Dr. Veronica Motley and Brush English-Language Arts Teacher Vikki Pruitte-Sorrells.

The African-American Read-In is sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English and seeks to promote the celebration of African-American literacy as a major part of Black History Month events.

The South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools wish to thank all of the Brush students who participated in this year’s African-American Read-In for serving as positive role models to our younger students.
