Students at Memorial Junior High School have mounted an impressive effort to raise money through the regular Math-A-Thon campaign that is currently taking place throughout the district. So far, SEL’s junior high students have raised more than $1500.00 for St. Jude’s Research Hospital to help patients seeking treatment there. Adding to the strong showing thus far is the creative and unrelenting means by which students are pursuing sponsors. Relatives have been sought at family weddings, fellow church members are sponsorship targets and the SEL administration and Board members have been contacted. The assertive approach to potential sponsors truly demonstrates the desire to help others in need by our very own students. Twenty-two participating students were also recently recognized at the January Principal’s Luncheon, where each was recognized by Principal Andrea Walker and assistant principals Ron Johnson and Deb Cegelka. Congratulations to our students for their efforts and to their sponsors for their support!
