SEL Schools Planning Retreat Underway With Purpose of Engaging Community
SEL Schools Planning Retreat Underway With Purpose of Engaging CommunityMore than 30 members from the communities served by the South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools began an important component to the strategic planning initiative which has been underway since last year, during the middle part of this week. Entitled the Planning Retreat, this set of meetings is designed to be a two-day engagement session, and included representatives from various stakeholders in the community. Staff members, including teachers, secretaries and administrators participated. So did students from Brush High School. Apart from the internal team at the SEL Schools, parents, long-time residents, members of the local clergy and others rounded out the group. The task: To begin to develop ideas about the schools from these stakeholders, so that a mission statement, vision statement and core values can be developed. Superintendent Linda N. Reid began the morning session by reiterating a clear purpose of engaging many people, so that this process can truly be community based. Stay tuned for more updates regarding this process throughout the next several weeks.
