Brush High School Student Wins Grand Prize, Will Have Artwork Displayed in Washington, DC

Brush High School student Nicholas Jarm has been named Grand Prize Winner in this year’s annual Congressional Art Competition, and will have his artwork, a silver gelatin print (black and white photograph) entitled "A Beautiful Mind," displayed in the Capitol Building in Washington, DC.  The Congressional Art Competition is sponsored by 11th District Congresswoman Marcia Fudge and is open to all school districts within her congressional representation. As part of winning the grand prize, Nicholas and one family member will be flown to Washington DC, to participate in the National Congressional Art Competition Reception. Nicholas, along with other winners from nearby school districts, will be honored at an upcoming ceremony at the Memorial Nottingham Branch of the Cleveland Public Library, 17109 Lake Shore Boulevard in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10 a.m. The Congressional Arts Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition. It is an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent in each congressional district.

The SEL Schools congratulates Nicholas Jarm on his wonderful artwork and for being a fine representative of our school district.
